L.O.L. the night mare vegetable

So, that last blog, Riley was doing a test to see if my preschool chart would transfer over from word perfect. It is kind of funny, because he didn't post it over to my preschool blog, he meant to delete it, and then Melissa had such a great comment that I have to keep it on there as it accurately describes my life... Melissa, go to my preschool blog and read about our blind activity, with eyes, that was funny too.

Anyhow, as the economy is going downward, yesterday I found myself saving our vegetable seeds and putting them in little baggies--I just can't escape that feeling of wanting to prepare anyway I can for security. Riley found this on the internet to disuade me from doing so-- I had a really funny laugh over it, what do you think, should I continue to save vegetable seeds from the super-market produce, in little baggies? Its kinda funny how everyone else had calm, normal letters in their bit of advice, but Anomonys said in all caps:

"I DO NOT RECOMMEND SAVING SEEDS FROM SUPERMARKET PRODUCE. I SAVED SEEDS FROM A ZUCCHINI AND PLANTED THEM IN MY GARDEN. I ENDED UP WITH A PLANT THAT LOOKED LIKE A FROG AND SMELLED LIKE PEANUT BUTTER. WE WERE AFRAID TO EAT IT AND ENDED UP THROWING IN THE COMPOST PILE. IT WOULD NOT ROT LIKE OTHER VEGETABLES. AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE BACKYARD BEGAN TO STINK. THIS WAS THE MOST FOUL SMELLING ODOR WE HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED AND IT TURMED OUT TO BE THIS...THING WE GREW FROM SUPERMARKET ZUCCHINI!!!OUR NEIGHBORS BEGAN COMPLAINING AND WE ENDED UP CALLING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND ASKED THEM TO GET RID OF IT. MY DAIGHTER STILL HAS NIGHTMARES."

Say La Vi to Summer

(Check out Elena's earings to me home made for Christmas) This summer was just down right memorable. For my birthday, Riley drew on my card, a picture of us biking on a slow incline with children in bike trailors and it said "To Eternity and Beyond" This meant with our tax return money, he was ganna get me a bike and the family two bike trailers. It was such a fun thing we did together. It was the small and simple things that we did together, which I will always remember, those bike rides, either way too hot, a screaming baby, to go get pizza, or riding in the pitch black with one small bike light, home from fireworks, each had a special memory. Gardening in the backyard, (a lot of work, but somehow wonderful), swimming at our local water slide pool, going on a little hike with the kiddies with a picnic, tubing down the river, with kids~ believe it or not (not Hazel of course), camping, and dates. Riley took me to get Italian Ice, and to two plays, this one was Big, and the other was Little Women. Riley's folks watched for this date and it was fun feeling cute and sitting by an incredibley sweet hottie and talking the whole way up and back from SLC.
This was the summer too, of the fullfillment of one of my life long dreams. You've all seen Little Mermaid. Since I was 12 I have wanted to float in a blue lagoon, with someone rowing a canoe, crazy to kiss me. We found a canoe shop and went canoing on the Provo River, it was so much fun. We found ourselves bickering quite a bit, as Riley hollered out commands, and I said, "We're supposed to be having fun!" But once we floated down, with less technical manuvering, we enjoyed jumping in for a swim, splashing, and then....we floated under a weeping willow tree. Well, no it wasn't actually a weeping willow, but it was weepy, and romantic...he did kiss the girl, and he did do it soon. I made sure to sing the song, including the WAHHHWAHHH Wahhhh WAHHH WAHHH!
I just was lucky there were no eels nearby to tip the boat, right at the climax! SPLASH!

Grandad

Food: Peanuts cans and snicker bar wrappers would make their way into Grandad's car. He would happily eat any food Granny would cook!

Songs: Wabash Cannonball, A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief, Oh, Divine Redeemer, Brightly Beams our Father's Mercy (I vaguely remembered once Grandad explaining a song that was special to him, remembering him talking about a lighthouse. I told Granny of this, and she said it was to the tune of "If you should feel inclined to Censure". This song has that tune, and is about a lighthouse, so I sang this song, at our little memory night.)

Granny: ~Grandad used to carry a clip board which he would write his ideas on whenever he got them. He liked to talk about science, energy, theory of impact and other physics related things. One night, he dreamed about a motor which he woke up and wrote down, and made. He also would write football plays onto this clipboard.

Granny remembers how it was important to Grandad to never be pretentious. He was once given a very nice pair of shoes, which he gave to someone else, because they were too expensive for him to wear. He did the same with a suit Granny bought for him. He said that if he were ever given a Cadillac, he wouldn't drive it.

Granny described her conversion story. Once, Granny bought a pack of ciggarrettes, in order to keep slim. When Grandad saw her smoke, he walked out of the house, which was unusual for him. He went on a long drive, and when he stopped, he looked at the stars. One fell from the sky. Grandad remembered the teachings which he was taught as a boy, about not smoking, and going to church. He realized that he was expecting Granny not to smoke, when he wasn't being an example to her. He felt the star falling from the sky symbolized his own potential, and that it falling was what would happen to him if he didn't get his life in order. He made a commitment to start going to church again. Once he did, he took Granny too. She would ask questions here and there, and the missionaries came to their house. Both Granny and Grandad eagerly listened to the discussions, and Granny felt like the teachings made so much sense, and answered so many of her life long questions, such as the purpose of why she was here on Earth. She felt Grandad was learning as much as she was, and even asked the missionaries if he could get baptized again. She said that after she joined the church, that the missionaries continued to come for like a year, which was so helpful to their family.
Memories from Cory, Miriam, Eirene and Emily: We remember how Grandad always had a special treat for us, such as a cheap watch or a pocket watch. He used to give us quarters for keeping our shoes on. He would surprise us with little treats, and tell us not to tell Granny, who would be convinced our appetites would be ruined. And I am sure they were. We loved how he would invite us on his lap and give us pop kisses. Cory is really good at immitating them. I told the story of how at a family camp, I was sad about something. Grandad noticed I was sad, and made up a game for the Grandkids to play, it was try to get eachother to smile. I was a champion, and made it through the last round, without smiling. Then Grandad said, that I was a regular "Boss-Hog". I ran to my tent and balled and balled. My mother told me that Grandad really wanted to talk to me, but I didn't want to, at all. I was convinced that he meant I was fat, bossy and mean. Finally, my mother convinced me. We went on a long walk, and Grandad held my hand. He told me how he would never want to hurt me, and that he loved me. Tears come to my eyes everytime I remember this treasured memory.
ADD your Memories! We love you Grandad!!!!!!!!! XOXO XoxxoooXoXOXO!

Scotty

Warning: Crude things and sayings, please be understanding of the man.
Food: Salsa, chips, and star-bursts.
Memorabilia: Hymn book that was Scotty's, pillow with pillow case.
Memories: PLEASE correct these, I feel I am butchering them!

Mim: Scotty used to tease Emily that although she had never kissed and seemed the purest of all, she was the HORNIEST of all. (True)
~Mim, remembered having a special night to talk to Scotty. They had gotten home from institute, and it was raining so they stayed in the car. They talked together about his life, and his desires for a mission. This was at the same time when Scotty told Mim, her nose didn't look so big now, that she'd filled out. Tactless, and we love him for it!
~Mim remembered the sweet boyish innocence that Scotty somehow maintained through powerful hormones, that we all treasure in memory.
~She remembered a dream she had, where Scotty told her he met a girl up in heaven, whom he loved. He was in love. Isn't this so sweet.
Eirene: Remembers how Scotty treated her to be a peer though she was a pion in age. Together they would create characters that were crude and silly and laugh and laugh together. Such as "Wedgey picking, Fart sniffing, Fransis" or whatever.
~Eirene remembered Scotty talking about a car that could run, by powerful smells. There could be a poo hole and a potty hole, but there couldn't be a pommy hole, that wasn't powerful enough, it would have to be a queef hole. (Gross Scotty!)
~Eirene told a story about Scotty giving swirlies to Patrick. Patrick kept chanting, "Money bags! Money bags!" After warnings, with no elimination of the chant, Scotty lifted Patrick and gave him swirlies. This was all with Julie home! Unpretensious Scotty, we love him!
Cory: Cory remembers that Scotty, Merritt and Charley, used to have "pelvis races". You can only imagine what this was. If I remember correctly, Cory said they each had their own style, and Scotty wasn't the fasest but had the biggest upward motions. Sorry for the visuals.
~Cory remembers that Scotty worried he was a Son of Perdition. I had written a memory from Kathy that Scotty used to wander into her room atleast four times a day with a confession of a thought. This sensitivity of his spirit attests to what a very righteous spirit that he had. It is joyous to know that he never have that worry anymore for eternity! Blessed to be in the light of the shining Savior's love!

Emily: I cheated and read things I had written down from many people's thoughts, including mine. Mine are the Jeoperdy memories. Sadly, the last time I saw Scotty, the spirit told me to go and give him a hug. And I didn't because I thought I would see him really soon. I am glad I had given him hugs every time when he first arrived, but that has always been a sore loss, that I could have had a goodbye hug, and didn't obey the prompting. I remember how beautiful Scotty helped me to feel, and how he kept us always laughing our guts out when he was around. My biggest memory was how he said he loved to come to our house because the spirit was there, weaving in and out amongst, through and around crumpled pieces of trash, and intertwining through dirty laundry. He always comforted us that our ghetto house, was not as bad as the Wintertons! :) He was so good at 'comforting!' :)
I read some things I had written down. Namely, Mitchell Jepoerdy. Granny's answers were always, "Who is Bud?" In this funny high pitch voice. Scotty, the announcer, "That is disgusting~!"
Adam's answer from Jeoperdy: He is off reading Bible Stories
Peter's answer from Jeoperdy: We have heard word that Peter is on the computer STILL!
Kathy's answer: "Where's Seth?"
He did Uncle Jeoperdy and Dad's categories were:
Sir Pelemore; Sir Brenowate; Uintahs; More Unintahs; I am obsessed with the Uintahs;
(I am chuckling again as I type this.)
I read through some of Laura's memories:
~He would drop to the ground and just do seizures.
~His object was always to get Laura to smile in the morning, in the car, and it always seemed to work, she would look out the window so he couldn't see her smile.
~Michael Jackson, doing "Beat it~"
~He helped Laura on a report doing OC things in the background, but that morning he insisted on going to Krispy Kream although Laura was late, and he went to the one further away, got a box for his favorite teacher, and they were off to school.
From Kathy's Memories I also read how if he did yard work, he'd record his time to the second, e.g. 27:03. We all loved Scotty's honesty!
~Scotty was an avid BYU fan, and lived in their jersey. When he watched the games he would go out innot the dessert when BYU was doing bad. THe stress was just too tramatic to take,. Then when BYU made a score, his family would hollar out to him and he would come dashing back to the house.
From Sarah: He'd pretend the crowds were cheering for him "Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!"
~One time she overheard her parents talking about their love and concern for Scotty, and she told Scotty they were talking till like 3:00 a.m, and when Scotty found this out, he went and sincerely appologized to his parents. We loved him for his sincerety!
I also remembered Doug had said, he had read this scripture to him, shortly before passing, pointing out that he really liked this chapter: Alma 29:
CHAPTER 29
1 O that I were an angel, and could have the wish of mine heart, that I might go forth and speak with the trump of God, with a voice to shake the earth, and cry repentance unto every people!2 Yea, I would declare unto every soul, as with the voice of thunder, repentance and the plan of redemption, that they should repent and come unto our God, that there might not be more sorrow upon all the face of the earth....

Well he is that angel and doing just that! We love him, miss him and know he's right where he's supposed to be!~~~
HOPE you'll add your memory, and bring him into your life again, at this time of remembrance.
